Have you been searching for swift justice against a crime you deem worthy of incarceration? Do you know of a guilty individual who has yet to have their day in court? Whether it is the friend who is always last to buy a round, the colleague who always manages to avoid the Christmas Day shift or the roommate who just won¢ï¿½ï¿½t stop snoring, look no further, justice is about to be served
This May, SOS Africas "Nominate an Inmate" 24 Hour Charity Lock-In will return to the currently vacated cells of the UK's once oldest operational prison, HMP Cornhill, Shepton Mallet. Shortlisted for an IOF National Fundraising Award, "Nominate an Inmate" was first organised by the Somerset charity in October 2015 during which time 120 inmates were sentenced to each spend 24 hours at the prison, and raised an incredible £35,000 for the SOS Africa children.
Courtesy of City & Country, taking place during the weekends of the 21st/22nd and 27th/28th May, from the moment they are first placed in irons, inmates will participate in an authentic prison experience and face new challenges, which are sure to put their nerves to the test.
After the successes of the 2015 event, places are in high demand and will be allocated on a first-come first-serve basis. To successfully Nominate an Inmate each nominator must raise £240 prior to their incarceration. This will enable us to raise over 200 years of education for the SOS Africa children and fund a Shepton Mallet community project.
